Según datos extra oficiales esta casa habitación habría sido construida por allá en los años 1890, por Jorge Brodegondy quien era dueño de un imperio de propiedades tanto rurales como urbanos , siendo propietario de una empresa triguera más grande de la Imperial, don Jorge era casado con Aurora Hernández, con quien no tuvieron descendencia, al momento de fallecer don Jorge su esposa quedó sola.
El año 1970 la viuda le vendió esta propiedad a la Familia Leal Olguín, Raúl Leal casado con la Margarita Olguín, con quien tuvieron 3 Hijo dos varones y una dama.
Está casona que se encuentra en las esquinas de Ernesto Riquelme y Patricio Linch, debiera tener alrededor de unos 130 años aproximadamente, frente al Registro Civil. Este edificio tiene un importante historial para la comuna, puesto que albergó uno de los íconos históricos de la prensa del sector costero de la región de La Araucanía: la antigua imprenta del Periódico “El Ideal”.
Señalar que “El Ideal”, fue un periódico bimensual fundado el 05 de noviembre de 1911 en Nueva Imperial. Su director fue Apolinario Riquelme. La redacción e impresión se realizó en calle Balmaceda 573, en nuestra comuna.
